Apprenticeship basics within social care

• Suitable for new, existing and non social care staff (for example administration)
• New national minimum wage £2.50 per hour
• 16-18 year olds: The cost of training is funded, there is limited funding available for post 19
• Employed directly by you, subject to all of your terms and conditions of employment
• The minimum hours required to undertake an apprenticeship is 16 (part time) although most apprentices are working 30 hours or more.
• Takes approximately 10 months to complete level 2, approx 14 months to complete level 3
• 16-18 year olds can carry out personal care tasks once appropriately trained.
