Apprenticeships
Put simply, an apprenticeship is a framework of qualifications that you study towards whilst working in paid employment. The apprenticeship in Social Care is made up of different elements; you will have to successfully complete all aspects in order to be awarded the full apprenticeship certificate.
You can study for an Intermediate Apprenticeship at level 2 or undertake an advanced Apprenticeship at level 3. These elements are:
- Technical Certificate
- Diploma in Health and Social Care
- Key Skills
- Employment Rights and responsibilities
The Care Quality Commission's essential standards for safety require services to evidence that their staff have the necessary skills and qualifications to perform the roles for which they are employed, an apprenticeship offers the learner and the employer a learning programme which equips them not only with qualifications, but also the complementary skills, knowledge and understanding that will support them throughout their social care career.
